Neil Holmes History
Neil’s offshore racing career began back in 1977 in offshore circuit racing. This was an ideal environment to gather and hone the skills which would serve him well in the years to come.
In 1982 Neil started his own marine business becoming a dealer for several boat and engine manufactures. His skills and expertise in building and preparing race engines led him to win engineer of the year on three occasions.
1988 saw his first world title, racing in 4 litre offshore, this was repeated the following year. 1989 was also the first year he traveled with his catamaran ‘Fina Unleaded’ to the Middle East which was the start of a long and successful career with the Emirates racing scene.
In 1990 Neil took the class 11 fleet by surprise winning the world title with his now famous ‘Fina Unleaded’ a small boat indeed for such a task.
1992, 1994 and 1997 saw Neil gain the world title in the 4 litre class With a 6 litre world title in 1994 there can be no doubt of his ability Achievements of this magnitude don’t happen by chance and the knowledge and skill that made it possible is now available to those who wish to learn.
The Neil Holmes Powerboat Training Centre opened in 2004 offering tuition primarily in powerboat racing and high performance craft.
